Holidays in Salzburg province
A place to fall in love with
One look outside is often enough at Hotel Sonngastein – and you immediately understand why so many guests love the view: the Gastein golf course with a panoramic backdrop of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The village centre of Bad Gastein is just a few minutes away, ideal for visiting the thermal spa, discovering historic architecture or taking a stroll through the spa town. In summer, the setting is pleasantly mild; in winter, the region shows its snow-covered side. The host family Zitka will guide you through all four seasons with great care and local knowledge.

For every age and level
Private lessons & group courses

On horseback through valley and forest
Riding holidays in Austria
Just 300 metres from the hotel, you’ll find the Gastein Riding Club. Here you can enjoy riding lessons, outings through shady woodland and lessons for beginners and advanced riders. The offer is suitable for adults as well as children. Also, here we offer weekly pony riding in our supervised childcare. Riding tours take place two to three times a week in summer at Sonngastein and can also be watched by non-riders.
Horse riding in Austria is especially popular with our young guests. Some children find large horses a little daunting at first – but luckily, the nearby Islandpferdehof has smaller Icelandic horses. Known for their gentle, friendly nature, they are a lovely choice for children. At Oberhaitzinggut, kids can also groom, care for and feed the horses.
Our reception team will be happy to help with further information and bookings.

Golf holiday in Austria
Golf holidays at their finest at Golf Hotel Sonngastein: stay with us right next to the 18-hole Gastein golf course and enjoy short distances, alpine views and attractive golf benefits. Tee 1, the golf club’s first tee, is just around a two-minute walk from our hotel. This makes Sonngastein the closest hotel to the first tee.
Golfclub Gastein is one of the oldest golf clubs in Austria and was founded in 1960. The spacious 18-hole course impresses with well-kept fairways, varied holes and a stunning mountain panorama in the Gastein Valley. Whether beginners, leisure golfers or experienced players: golfers will find ideal conditions here for a varied golf holiday in Salzburger Land.
For the perfect swing, the golf course offers a modern driving range with TRACKMAN Range as well as a golf school. This makes training particularly effective, interactive and exciting: shots can be analysed in real time, allowing technique and play to be improved in a targeted way. Taster courses and the driving range are also available to our guests at reduced rates.
Particularly attractive for your golf holiday in Bad Gastein: as a guest at Sonngastein, you benefit from a 25% green fee discount.
