Arrival

In the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the fascinating natural landscape is one of our hallmark features. With ideal hiking opportunities in summer and superb winter sports conditions in winter, you are sure to enjoy everything nature has to offer whenever you vacation with us.

To enable you to find your way to us easily, we have put together these detailed itineraries for you.

Are you coming by car?

For guests arriving from Germany and the North

The best way to reach Bad Gastein is on Autobahn A8 Munich-Salzburg, taking a right turn after the border onto the Tauernautobahn A10 (Villach/Gastein/Hallein) then stay on it until the ‘St. Johann/Zell am See / Gasteinertal’ [Gastein valley] exit (approx. 65 km after the border). Then continue as described below. Driving time from Munich – Bad Gastein: approx. 2¼ hours (230 km). For this stretch, you need an Autobahn vignette [toll label].

For guests from eastern Austria and from the East

You reach Bad Gastein from eastern Austria on the West-Autobahn, that is via Linz and Salzburg, then you continue down the Tauernautoahn until the ‘Gastein valley’ exit.

From Switzerland and the Tirol

The best way to reach Bad Gastein is down the Inntal-Autobahn. Leave this at the Wörgl-Ost exit then drive via Söll, St. Johann in Tirol, Hochfilzen (Griessenpass 963 m) to Saalfelden then from there via Zell am See and Lend to the Gastein valley.

From the South, i.e. from Carinthia, Steiermark, Italy or Slovenia

The best way to reach our valley is through the Tauern Tunnel on a convenient car shuttle train between Mallnitz and Böckstein near Bad Gastein. Access to us is all on good roads and motorways from the South West via Toblach, Silian, Lienz, Winklern and Obervellach or Via the motorway from Klagenfurter Becken, which you take as far as the Millstätter See exit, then continue down the Mölltall on federal highway 106 via Obervellach to Mallnitz. When the road is snowbound, winter tyres are required.
