The Gastein Valley lies in the heart of Salzburg province and is easy to reach from all directions.
From Germany & the north
Take the A8 motorway Munich–Salzburg. After crossing the border, turn onto the A10 Tauern motorway towards Villach/Gastein and continue to the St. Johann/Zell am See/Gasteinertal exit. Driving time Munich–Bad Gastein: approx. 2¼ hours (230 km). A motorway vignette is required.
From eastern Austria & the east
Take the Westautobahn towards Linz–Salzburg, then continue on the Tauern motorway to the “Gasteinertal” exit.
From Switzerland & Tyrol
Take the Inntal motorway, exit Wörgl-Ost, then continue via Söll, St. Johann in Tirol, Hochfilzen, Saalfelden, Zell am See and Lend into the Gastein Valley.
From the south (Carinthia, Styria, Italy, Slovenia)
The easiest route is via the Tauern Motorail between Mallnitz and Böckstein near Bad Gastein.
