Thermal Water in Our Indoor Pool
Our indoor pool is filled with genuine Gastein thermal water. For use in the pool, the water is de-radonised and brought to a pleasant temperature of around 30 °C.

The Gastein Valley has two large thermal spas open all year round: Felsentherme Bad Gastein and Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein. Swimming is one of the most important skills children can learn – and a holiday at Sonngastein is the perfect setting. Our swimming instructor teaches children of all ages in a playful, personal and patient way. With individual attention and lessons tailored to each child, progress often comes quickly. The mountain and swimming lakes in and around Bad Gastein invite you to cool off in the heart of nature – a little adventure in itself, especially if you find them by chance. Your Zitka host family will always have a few local tips for special places to swim in Gastein.
Which swimming pools are available at Sonngastein?
The Water World at Sonngastein includes three different swimming pools:
- an indoor pool with genuine, de-radonised Gastein thermal water
- a warm outdoor family pool
- a quiet classic pool with underwater music
The classic pool is generally reserved for adults and teenagers aged 14 and over. On family sauna days on Sunday and Thursday, younger children may also use it together with their accompanying adults.
How warm are the pools?
The indoor thermal pool has a water temperature of around 30 °C.
The two outdoor pools are heated to approximately 33 °C, making them pleasant to use even when outside temperatures are cooler.
Seasonal or operational variations in water temperature are possible.

Yes. Our indoor pool is filled with genuine Gastein thermal water. For use in the pool, the thermal water is de-radonised and brought to a pleasant water temperature of around 30 °C.

Can children use all the pools?
Children can use the indoor thermal pool and the warm outdoor family pool together with their family.
The quiet classic pool with underwater music generally has a minimum age of 14.
Family sauna days take place on Sunday and Thursday. On these days, younger children may also use the classic pool together with their accompanying adults.
Are swimming lessons available for children?
Yes. Swimming lessons for children are available on request.
Depending on availability, private or group lessons can be arranged. Sessions are adapted individually to the child's age, swimming experience and ability.
